Description:
There are approximately 2 million youth living in the U.S. who do not have access to higher education because they are undocumented immigrants. These young men and women were brought to the U.S. as minors by their parents through no fault of their own, yet they cannot live normal lives. The Dream Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) is a bipartisan congressional bill that promises to give undocumented students who grew up in the United States the opportunity to contribute to this country by granting them access to higher education. The Dream Act is also a limited immigration reform bill that aims to give only the brightest undocumented youth the ability to earn their legal status after a thorough legal process. Watch and learn about the efforts of U.S. Congressional leaders as well SIM (Student Immigration Movement) student organizers, as they fight for the civil rights issue of the 21st century.
