Description: A short film about the function of memory. In the film I show how, our daily or routine activities all contain somehting that is unique to them and to that moment but the very repetition of these activities makes their peculiarity disappear into forgetfulness. From here is the title of the film, "Lost Time, Absent Memories". The initial sequence is the key to the reading of the film. It displays, through the iconic image of marbles (an obvious symbol of childhood) being moved by someone we cannot see, the feeling of absence. The frames are devoid of human presence. The dimension of the past, symbolised by the marbles is devoid of human presence that can only (through the active movement of the marbles being thrown on the carpet) be felt but not seen. We know there is something missing but we don't know what it is. The film is also a reflection on loneliness and how differently we act when we are not confronted with another human presence. Man is effectively transformed and becomes something else that is not necessarily closer to its true self that instead comes out with his interaction with other humans.
