Biographies of CMF Co-Founders Dan Costa and David Roemer
Dan Costa
Dan majored in Business and jokes that he minored in Campus MovieFest while attending college in Atlanta, Georgia. The outgoing 27 year old Co-Founder of CMF was a Residential Advisor when he, David, and a few friends created the moviemaking event as a project for his dorm back in the winter of 2000. Now, Dan’s the President of CMF, overseeing the day-to-day operations and spearheading the company’s involvement with every school. While he and the rest of the team no longer have to lug 30 pound iMacs around to each dorm room, he remains an active participant in each of the school events helping students create five minute masterpieces.
Though Dan and Campus MovieFest call Atlanta home, he’s eager to see the program continue expanding to all states and around the world. “Everyone has a story and we want to help them tell it. There are more than 4,000 colleges and universities in the US. We don’t want to stop until we’ve reached them all.”
David Roemer
David is Co-Founder and CEO of Campus MovieFest . The 26 year old first began working with students and computers while attending Emory University when he founded the Apple Student Core, a student organization that volunteered in community computer labs teaching children how to use the technology. David’s commitment to education and technology continues, diligently working over the last six years to give a voice to students across the globe through a unique form of digital expression – films leveraging creativity and the latest technology.
David is a driving force behind the growth of Campus MovieFest focusing on the long-term strategy and partnerships nationally as well as within the community. He has previously worked with Apple in its Buzz Marketing group, also serving as an advisor to numerous film and technology companies and nonprofit organizations in the US and UK. “Community and corporate support of students making films with Campus MovieFest is an integral factor in their success. Together, we can make the experience unforgettable for hundreds of thousands of students around the world.”
