Background
Campus MovieFest, created
in 2000 by students at Emory University, has grown
into the world's largest student movie-making event.
The founders at Ideas United, LLC, have had the privilege
of sharing their passion with students around the
globe while working with great partner companies –
including Delta Air Lines and Apple – to make
the events possible.
Campus MovieFest is the
only event of its kind to provide thousands of student
teams with Apple laptops, camcorders, and training.
In addition, hundreds of local musicians provide the
best independent music that students have permission
to use as their soundtracks.
The movie-making events
culminate in unforgettable finales, with the on-campus
showcases attracting thousands of students and staff.
Regional grand finales, hosted at premiere venues
such as The Fox Theatre in Atlanta and The Younger
Hall in St. Andrews, Scotland, offer students a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to feel like stars as they share their
stories. |

About
the Music
Campus MovieFest is
about more than just the movies. CMF also invites
local musicians to provide their songs to students
for use in the movie soundtracks. As a result,
independent artists expose their music to students
and viewers around the world, and students receive
permission to share their movies and music. |

Over
100 artists and bands have provided over 3 days'
worth of music from every genre. Plus, the top
local acts provide at the Campus MovieNite celebrations.

About
the Technology
Campus MovieFest is for
all students, not just filmmakers, because the technology
is now incredibly easy to use while creating powerful
short movies. CMF provides students with the latest
Apple laptop computers with iMovie and Final Cut Pro editing software.
Students also receive handheld digital camcorders. |

| |
| A
very short training course demonstrates to students
that anyone can now make their own movies. For the
music, students use some of the thousands of songs
submitted by local musicians, or they create their
own soundtracks using Garageband software made by
Apple. Students gain new skills, enabling them to
create movies for classes, work, and fun.
The online WebObjects registration
system is reliably hosted on Apple Xserves at Maccius,
the leading providers of managed hosting solutions.
