CMF Hollywood is a weekend of events meant to celebrate the next generation of filmmakers with everything from educational workshops hosted by industry professionals to networking receptions and parties. CMF Hollywood is also the pinnacle event to the Campus MovieFest world tour where the top movies from over 60 competing campuses will be awarded top honors at a glamorous red carpet awards ceremony.
Everyone is welcome to attend! While most events are geared towards CMF participants and winners, the weekend as a whole is open to anyone who wants to participate in our docket of events. The more the merrier we say!
In all honesty it's a great way to celebrate your hard work creating a five-minute movie in one week. You'll gain valuable experiences and make lasting connections with your peers from across the globe. Sure there's lots of fun and celebration, but what we hear year after year is that the opportunity to learn from the pros during the CMF Hollywood workshops, and meet fellow filmmakers is the most valuable and rewarding part of CMF Hollywood.
RED! We're equal parts pumped and proud that we'll be kicking off our partnership with RED at this year's CMF Hollywood! On Thursday June 20th you'll have the opportunity to travel to RED Studios in Hollywood for a hands on workshop to learn about RED cameras and digital filmmaking. This opportunity requires a separate ticket and fee which includes lunch and shuttle from the Universal Sheraton Hotel.
CMF Certified. We know that the educational experiences at CMF Hollywood are one of the highlights of the weekend. This year we're providing students with certification for attending CMF Hollywood workshops. It'll look great on your resume, and hanging on your wall!
Food! We've got 3 days jam packed with events and you'll need to keep your strength up. With your badge you'll receive lunch on Friday and Saturday.
Events start early on Thursday June 20th so for those of you traveling from outside of the LA area we highly recommend you arrive on the evening of Wednesday June 19th.
As soon as possible! We sold out of badges AND the discounted rooms at the Universal Sheraton last year in record time. Not to mention badge prices increase on May 10th!
If your movie won Best Picture, Best Drama, or Best Comedy at your school then your movie will be screening at CMF Hollywood.
In late May we'll be posting the screening schedule here as well as announcing additions to the screenings line up including Wild Card winners, Elfenworks Social Justice Category Finalists, Golden Tripod Award Nominees, and CMF Staff Picks.
We'll also have separate screening opportunities for the CMF 3D finalists.
Workshops are a great opportunity to learn from the pros. We'll have both hands on experiential workshops and discussion panels.
As the events approach, we'll post the details here on our website and announce them through our Facebook and Twitter pages.
The presenters are leading industry professionals who are passionate about the next generation of filmmakers, and we'll be announcing them as the events get closer.
Previous presenters have included Academy Award Winners such as Wally Pfister, Jon Landau, Michael Giacchino, and Mark Boal, as well as Elizabeth Banks, Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi, Stana Katic, and many more! We'll begin to announce this year's exceptional presenters in May.
At this time we do not offer tickets or badges to select events. Everyone who would like to attend any CMF Hollywood event will need to purchase one of our three badge options to attend the events. Additionally, select events will require separate registration, and in some cases an additional fee.
All badges are non-refundable.
After June 10th we are unable to exchange names on the badges. Several of our events require security clearance and because of this we need your name as it appears on your government issue ID. June 10th is the cut off for all name changes or updates to badges.
While at CMF Hollywood you must wear your own badge at all times for entry to CMF Hollywood Events.
Your badge includes general admission entry to CMF Hollywood opening ceremony, workshops held at Sheraton Universal, CMF Hollywood Festival Screenings, networking events and parties, and the CMF Hollywood red carpet awards ceremony. With your badge you'll also receive lunch on Friday at Sheraton Universal and Saturday at Universal Studios.
Select events will require separate registration, and in some cases, an additional fee.
We recommend you bring business cards to trade with peers and professionals. Business cards with a link to your website or reel is always preferred over copies of your movies or resumes which can be cumbersome to carry.
You can also bring a tablet or phone, or good old notebook and pen, to take notes during the workshops. The Universal Sheraton Hotel will have free wifi for CMF Hollywood guests in their guest rooms.
Most CMF Hollywood events don't have dress codes though we highly recommend that you consider the people you'll be interacting with such as your peers, and in some cases industry professionals. You don't have to wear suits and dresses if you don't want to, but being clean and presentable is recommended.
The CMF Hollywood Awards Ceremony is what we like to call black-tie optional. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy the celebration and for some that includes tuxedos and ball gowns while others prefer jeans and t-shirts. By and large, most people wear cocktail attire to the awards ceremony.
Absolutely! It's one of the main benefits of attending CMF Hollywood. Be sure to bring lots of business cards that include your name, contact information, and a link to your website / resume / reel if you have them.
You are not required to stay at the Universal Sheraton Hotel but it is highly recommended if you are traveling from out of town. By staying at the Universal Sheraton you'll be in the middle of all of the action plus have access to shuttle services to take you to events located off site.
Whether the general public is invited to the CMF Hollywood Awards Ceremony depends on the venue. In previous years our venues have restricted these invitations though it's possible we'll be moving to a larger theater that can accommodate a larger audience.
