About the Movies

You can make a movie about anything as long as it's five minutes or less. Featured categories include Best Picture, Best Drama, and Best Comedy. We're also proud to offer a social justice category brought to you by the Elfenworks Foundation.

Find out more about the opportunity to make a movie to make a difference, and possibly win a $10,000 cash grant.

CMF and AT&T

AT&T is thrilled to partner with Campus MovieFest. AT&T is hooking you up with the latest deals on wireless plans and handsets, plus a chance to try out the latest video phones [include them in your movie for a bonus prize]. Check out a great deal on service plans for an iPhone 3G especially for CSUN students.

AT&T and CMF will also showcase the top movies for the nation to see exclusively on AT&T handsets. Text MOVIES to 2251 to check them out. Take a look at the details.

Campus MusicFest

Interested in music as well as film, and looking for exposure, prizing, and a chance to play in front of great audiences? Campus MusicFest is launching nationwide for you.

Additional Opportunities

In addition to Campus MovieFest, there's boundless opportunities to create short movies throughout the year. Check out some we recommend.

Campus Partners

CMF couldn't be possible without the tremendous support from our on-campus partners:

Western Regional Grand Finale

All of the top movies from each West Coast school's Campus MovieFest will be featured at this best-of-the-best showcase. We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16. Check out all the details and look for an email from CMF with team ticket information.

CMF Finale

The top movies from CSUN will be showcased at a red carpet finale on Friday, September 26, at the Plaza del Sol Performance Center! Plus, all the movies will be highlighted, with everyone having a chance to win huge door prizes. The doors open with a Guitar Hero contest at 6:30pm, and the show begins at 7:30pm. No tickets required but seats will fill up early.

Prizes

We know students participate in CMF to tell their stories... but hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes this year can't hurt either. Get a chance to win Apple laptops, iPods, mobile phones from AT&T, trips to Cannes and to meet studio execs, $10,000 cash grants, and more, just by creating an amazing short movie or showing up to enjoy the red carpet finales. Stay tuned for CSUN and National prize info soon.

CMF is For You

Never made a movie before? Don't worry -- just grab some friends, sign up for free, and we'll help the entire way. We'll give you everything you need and get all of your questions answered. The judges will focus on your stories, and not your technical skills.

Are you an award-winning student filmmaker? Great, join in the fun for a chance at huge prizes and to be seen across the country, by studio execs, on AT&T handsets, in-flight on Virgin America, and online in the world's largest student film festival.

Guidelines

The most important movie guidelines are that the submissions must be five minutes or less created during Campus MovieFest week. The only people who can film, edit, and direct are your teammates, who must be current students, faculty, or staff of your university. Others not from your school are welcome to appear in your movie. Also, permission is needed for any music used in the movies that's not original -- fortunately, CMF provides you with thousands of tracks to consider from top local artists. And, of course, follow your school's conduct code. Check out all the guidelines in the CMF Training Manual.

Campus Ambassadors

We are always looking for students passionate to help create an amazing event on campus, gain great experience, and enjoy some fun perks. Contact us to join the CMF team @ CSUN.
