We were thrilled to attend the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival on the beautiful French Riviera in May 2016. We brought the top CMF films to the Cannes Short Film Corner and made them available to an audience of over 30,000 people from 130 countries. “Attending Cannes changed my perspective on filmmaking and the industry. I made wonderful friends and connections. I'm so thankful for CMF for this opportunity,” said East Carolina University’s Devyn Herron, whose film Made Up was featured at the Festival. Every Jury Award winning film from the participating CMF schools was invited to apply for the program, and this year we were able to share the incredible Cannes experience with 45 student filmmakers.
CMF filmmakers walked the red carpet and rubbed elbows with celebrities, networked with filmmakers across the globe during two Happy Hours sponsored by our friends at Adobe and Google, and attended CMF-exclusive workshops to learn about the business of filmmaking and the difference between studio and independent films— all while soaking in the beautiful southern-France sun. University of Arizona student and co-director of the featured short Shellfish Jordan Mandel said, “attending the Cannes Film Festival was a life changing experience. From the new friends I made to the opportunities to network with industry professionals, I would have to say the two weeks I spent in France were motivating and eye opening. Thank you CMF and Adobe for the chance to be apart of it all." Check out the highlights to see why you should be there!
